The very beginning of the design process involves words and ideas.  Essentially it is a thought process.  The very beginning of the form architecture takes on is the sketch.  It is the most organic connection between ideas and form.  If anything, sketches help vet-out the direction that should not be taken.  Ultimately, the right sketch will provide the catalyst and fervor to set a relevant design concept in motion.
